Today I realized my contract with Cingular was over a couple months ago and now I'm on a month to month thing. This is awesome, because this means I can get the eff off of Cingular-- oh sorry, AT&T, and go on another service. I really dug Virgin Mobile when I had it, so I might switch back to that. I never really talk on my phone too much. If anything, I use it to text more.


There was a topic on a message board about the nerdiest thing you had ever done was. This made me think about the question for myself. There's the costumes and the websites and stuff, sure. But nerdiest? I think I would have to go with this:

Aaaaand

You know, one of the things that really ticked me off in Invincible was the lack of Jacen/Tenel Ka. I know, I'm a total J/TK fangirl and this is expected of me to be complaining about this, but I wasn't asking for like OMG ANGSTY SCENES AND THE WHOLE BOOK BEING J/TK WAI WAI and all that, but I just wanted ANYTHING. Any sort of interaction AT ALL. And there was NOTHING.

Sure, Jacen calls out to her during the fight, but we never see her reaction to the callout and the subsequent events after it. Like how did she feel when all that crap happened with him at the end. YAY? NAY? WHAT HAVE I DONE? I'M IN THE MOOD FOR A CHEESEBURGER?

I mean, she was 33.3% of the actual major build-up to the OMG DARK SIDE here. Jacen and her = LOVE. And with that LOVE comes THE BABY. This was like a billion books ago, it seems. Then his LOVE for Tenel Ka and THE BABY cause him to start going BATSHIT CRAZY. But suddenly Tenel Ka is like -2% of the story and doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of things cause suddenly it's JACEN AND THE BABY AGAINST THE WORLD GALAXY.

Her effing uterus and her OMG ETERNAL CHILDHOOD-CRUSHY RECIPROCATED LOVE for Jacen MADE THE BIG ONE THING THAT DROVE HIM DARK AND BATSHIT CRAZY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

But we get more scenes with her awesome and hot cousins then we do with her in Invincible.

I've decided that I didn't really like the series as a whole. None of the books really stood out to me -- I'm gonna have to go with Tempest as my favorite. Only because the cover is hot. And that's pretty bad when I have to go on the covers. Wait, I also like all the little fun things Denning always interjects into the stories. BUGSLUT. Invincible wins second for the cousins. Fury wins third for Zekk going all odd and gray and out of it concerning the Force.

But I can't nerd out over LotF like I did with other books like the NJO and even the DN books -- not to mention the YJK series and all the awesomely-cheesy-amazing Bantam books where there could be LOTS OF FUN WITHOUT LOTS OF KILLING.
